How to Control Your Partner
1) Get close to losing your temper whenever you are disagreed with or confronted.
2) Threaten violence or be violent when you get upset.
3) Talk so fast and angrily that the other can’t speak.
4) Talk so long it becomes a huge chore to talk with you.
5) Say, “I can’t talk now,” whenever the other introduces a topic you don’t like, and then never get back to it.
6) Bring up difficult topics just as the other is leaving for work and then blame the other for not wanting to talk.
7) Cry and otherwise get very emotional whenever a difficult topic is raised.
8) Bounce every critical or confronting statement back to the other as in, “Oh yeah, well you aren’t so neat when it comes to the car you know.”
9) Announce what you are going to do instead of bringing it up for discussion.
10) Argue strenuously every time your partner wants to do something.
These behaviors will yield a contentious relationship that lacks warmth, trust, and support, but you will often get your way.
