Hi, And welcome to my themes and writing.

My three non-fiction books and ongoing fiction are all represented here, and sill be published on an Ebook format able to be purchased at $4.99 through Amazon.

I ''m a retired marriage counselor and after writing three self-help books for my profession, I am now enjoying writing fiction. It's much harder but much more fun.

Interestingly, the themes seem to blur over from my working life into my retirement writing with the exception that I now add in the trials of growing older.

Discovering the many tools of a website, I have decided to give images for all of my themes. Above you will find those of my short stories, and in each section themes of the books highlighted.

I do a lot of thinking outside the box, but always honor good communication and respect for all. Hopefully you will find sparks of your own feelings and yearnings in these books.

I'd Rather Be Married: Finding Your Future mate This if the first one! And it came out of my own searching for the skills that others might have gained in a non seminary high school and college. All about making good choices in the opposite sex. I hesitated to write about this until I had it all figured out. One day the obvious insight finally came home to roost that no writer ever has it all figured out. So I wrote about my failures as well as successes. It has been highly praised by well known authors and therapists including John gray and Harville Hendricks. Many letters from readers have made me happy that I have performed a needed service with this practical book on finding your future mate.

Love in the Trenches: Transforming Couples' Power Struggle

I wrote this book from the hundreds of hours of counseling couples, hoping to give couples that don't have access to a good couples therapist a chance to do home study, maybe even in a group at church or a club or group of friends. The book takes you through a teaching section followed by exercises that are very similar to the way I didsuccessful therapy with couples. I also made a video that accompanies the book with demonstrations of the tools such as dialogue, asking for what you want, the coming home ritual, and a few others. The Only Relationship Guide You

About me Who is Al Crowell? Answering that question has been a life long study. I think I have the answer and then another ten years go by and and I marvel at the changes made. The basics are that I came into California via an army hospital in Kansas in 1942, a trubulent time in this country and for my family since it was soon after that my mom became a single mom with three girls and me second to youngest. My current memory bank starts being active when she remarried and we moved from Castro Valley to Long Beach (Lakewood Village area) where I luckily fell into a great neighborhood with lots of boys to play with.That was a badly needed balance to the three sisters that created a life long fascination with women, and a fear of them. So I took my crusader rabbit personality and went to seminary and actually went all the way to becoming a Catholic priest intent on saving eternal souls. Now there's a themed!I still have the crusader rabbit in me but channel it now as a secular humanist into working to better relationships and protecting children from violence against them that is legal (paddling in schools in twenty states and hitting at home.I surfed until a few years ago, am an energetic coot, or as George Carlin might say, an old fuck, do a lot of thinking outside the box, but still honor the value of good communication and respect for all.I've been married a number of times, am a father of two boys, one of which died (more themes there.) And now I am a grandpa of three.Couples therapy was the core of my professional career but I also ran a refinishing shop while raising a family and pursuing a graduate degree in counseling.

2084: The One Hundred Program

Written a number of years ago when I first started understanding the implications of nano technology. I have tried to create a world that to me would result from a non-violent and respectful way of treating children. I envision life long learning, great sexual openness and gender experimentation along with exuberant creativity and development of skills toward a peaceful world.

The Experiment

The Experiment, set in current time, starts with a murder in an intentional community of secular humanists, drags in a retired detective who is frustrated that his girlfriend won't marry him and ultimately destroys a family in a Chjristian Fundeamentalist community that loses faith in a life and death struggle.
